Abdo Kids books take new shape

April 15, 2015

Minneapolis, MN – ABDO (abdopublishing.com), a leading educational publisher, will release five Abdo Kids series in a brand-new, kid-friendly trim size this coming September. Abdo Kids is the company’s newest division, catering to the PreK–2 audience. Emphasizing “Reading Begins Here,” the books feature early learning topics and support beginning reading development.

The new shape and size make the books even more attractive and approachable for early readers: the minimalist design helps to draw attention to the topics and is set off by bright colors and patterns that add to the aesthetic appeal, creating an overall delightful reading experience.

The forthcoming Abdo Kids series featuring this new trim size include: Family Pets, Farm Animals, My Community: Jobs, Seasons, and Senses. These beautiful 9.75” x 9”, 24-page books showcase full-bleed photographs and a new picture glossary. Also notable is the low, first-grade reading level, with limited sentence length and overall word count.

“This smaller size is a wonderful new addition to the Abdo Kids family,” says BreAnn Rumsch, Marketing & Communications Manager at ABDO. “Adding an even more approachable option for our PreK–2 audience lets us focus more effectively on the specific needs of budding readers to better support them for reading success.”

The smaller Abdo Kids titles offer the same features and benefits of the larger titles: a reinforced library binding as well as availability in a Read-to-Me eBook format that provides a fun, alternative way to read and learn with audio assistance. Additionally, all Abdo Kids books include free extra resources in a safe, controlled online learning environment. The kid-friendly website, abdokids.com, is curated with information and pictures from the books, as well as new information and activities specific to each Abdo Kids title.

Abdo Kids debuted last year with great success, offering books that combine simple text with beautiful, full-bleed photography in a large format. Currently, fourteen series from the backlist are available in Spanish translations. “We’ve been pleased with the success of Abdo Kids and look forward to continuing to provide top-quality content to this area of the educational market,” adds Paul Abdo, Editor-In-Chief.
